Update: October 10th.

I think my little air-layer is dead. How sad. But my main tree is still alive.

Air layering worked!

I didn't take pictures because my brain was fried but I looked under the aluminum foil to take a peek and I was delighted to find roots growing!! How cool! There was also this large lump of white calous growth, not sure what it was but it may be proto-roots?
So I cut off the branch and planted it into a 5 gallon Gro Pot. I made a moist planting mix; so I hope it likes it.
I kind of rushed the planting but if it takes off, I'll repot it when it settles.

Growth, albeit the leaves are funky. Maybe over-fertilization?

Growth but maybe too much fertilizer?

I think the weird leaves may be due to too much fertilizer? Otherwise, my Sweetheart is showing the most vigorous growth in a long time.

New growth

My Sweetheart Lychee seems to be happy outside and is putting on a lot of new growth. I'll take post soon.

Years later…

I moved my Sweetheart Lychee to my home. I repotted it into a 15 gallon Gro Pot. I noticed that the grow medium was super dry. I guess my watering regiment at work wasn't enough to keep it moist. Which explains why it was so slow to grow. Anyhow, I potted it up using "Soil" I got from Summerwinds Nursery. I fugured that I'd try to grow this Lychee as an outdoor plant and forgo the coir. I did amend the medium with a lot of perlite.
I spotted some hints of growth. I hope it becomes happy in its new digs.
Et voilá.
